Applications

Start from the service condition, then pick the grade.

Six application groups with the grade and finish logic buyers usually apply. Treat these as selection starting points, not performance promises.

  1. 01

    Kitchen and food-service equipment

Worktops, cabinets, hoods and equipment housings that need a clean, cleanable surface.

    Typical grades
    304 / 316L
    Typical finish
    2B

    Selection logic

    • 2B gives a smooth surface for forming and finishing
    • Choose 316L where salty or acidic contact is expected

Confirm any food-contact requirement and the standard your market applies.

  2. 02

    Process and chemical equipment

Tanks, skids, housings and plate parts exposed to process media.

    Typical grades
    316L / 304
    Typical finish
    2B / No.1

    Selection logic

    • 316L for chloride and chemical exposure
    • Hot-rolled No.1 for heavier-gauge construction

Media, temperature and concentration decide the grade. Share them in the RFQ.

  3. 03

    Architectural and interior panels

Cladding, lift interiors, ceilings and trim where surface consistency matters.

    Typical grades
    304 / 201
    Typical finish
    2B

    Selection logic

    • 2B is a common base for polishing and coating
    • 201 only for dry interior use

State whether panels are interior or exterior before selecting the grade.

  4. 04

    Appliance and consumer-goods parts

Stamped, formed and slit parts for appliance housings and fittings.

    Typical grades
    201 / 304
    Typical finish
    2B

    Selection logic

    • Slit strip suits press and roll-forming lines
    • Gauge and width control drive yield

Provide the part drawing or blank size so width can be matched.

  5. 05

    Structural and heavy fabrication

Frames, supports, platforms and plate-cut parts where thickness leads.

    Typical grades
    304 / 316L
    Typical finish
    No.1

    Selection logic

    • Hot-rolled No.1 offers heavier gauges
    • Mill surface suits parts that are painted, welded or hidden

Provide thickness range, flatness and cutting requirements.

  6. 06

    Coastal and chloride-exposed parts

Fittings, enclosures and equipment near salt air or chloride-bearing water.

    Typical grades
    316L
    Typical finish
    2B / No.1

    Selection logic

    • Molybdenum improves chloride pitting resistance
    • Pick the finish by appearance versus thickness

Environment severity varies. Validate grade selection against your own service data.

  • Grade: 201, 304 or 316L
  • Finish: cold-rolled 2B or hot-rolled No.1
  • Form: coil, sheet, or slit strip
  • Thickness and width (target and tolerance)
  • Application and required standard
  • Quantity and processing needs
